Cohan Moral Panic

Moral panic is: A condition, episode, person or group of persons emerges as a threat to social values and interests.

The mass meida like to stair up, emerge and style moral panic to its audiance, people with social power are best example of this e.g. bishops,editors and political figures and MPs

Features of moral panic
 Concern- behavour in a person/group useally threatend
Volatility-short massive panics that are very short lived
Hostillity- useally towards a person or people known as 'folk devils' construted by the mass media and created as 'us' and 'them'
 

Information On Semiotics

Saussure

Saussure had a theroy about media texts, his theory was that everything has a sign for example the rain can repesent sadness or a missrible atmosphere. This is something we need to think about when analysisng media the message we offer like what people see and hear.

Semiotics-The study of signs

Anything that is used to carry a meaning can be defined as a sign it could be a word, image or sound. Media texts are encoded by the producers and decoded by the audiance

Signifiers-Due to human nature we have to view signs for all distint meanings or parts

Polysemy-Media text can be seen as open or closed

Introduction to AS Media

For my AS media project design a music magazine and a school collage magazine. Firstly i am going to create the front cover of the magazine then move onto the contents page and a double page spread out of a chosen artist and the school.
